Meeting Notes March 18, 2021

It was our first meeting in person since March 2020 and it was good just to be together!

Lt Governor Dennis gave us some updates for the District and the Division. The International Convention has been cancelled but the District Convention will happen in person, August 5-8 in Hollywood.

We heard news about people and clubs in Division 8. There will be a Division Council Meeting (DCM) on May 19 (yes, Wednesday) at Papa Joe’s in Brooksville. At this meeting we will have the opportunity to affirm the decision for 2020-21 Division leaders to repeat their terms in 2021-22.

Officers were installed: President Peg, President Elect Gary, Secretary Lynn, Treasurer Jim. Pam has asked for a 6-month hiatus from responsibilities with the Club.

We were generous with Happy Dollars, to help make up for a year of not meeting in person.

The room at the Plantation is booked for us every third Thursday for the year.

The next Club meeting is April 1 at noon by Zoom.

03 04 2021 Meeting Notes Kiwanis of West Citrus

03 04 2021 Meeting Notes Kiwanis of West Citrus

We had a lively meeting this noon and made several decisions by consensus:

1.    We will try meeting once a month in person and once a month by Zoom. The first in-person would be March 18, and include the installation of Peg as president. The location is to be determined.

2.    Jim announced that the audit review for 2019-2020 is complete. Thank you to the committee!

3.    Because so many students are in need due to COVID, we decided to award a scholarship in addition to the Dick Morton and the CF that are already funded. In order to fund the new scholarship, members are asked to contribute $100 each, or another amount at their discretion. This scholarship will be in honor of George Felix, Nancy’s dad, who died recently.

4.    We will continue to support the “Teachers’ Store” by donations of tissues and Expo markers. These items may be brought to the in-person meeting, or taken to WTC for distribution. Shipping direct from Amazon is possible, the address is 1201 W Main, Inverness, 34450.

5.    We will begin a new project supporting the students at Crystal River High School who are experiencing poverty. These students have access to Pirate Cove, where they can select small kits of makeup, laundry pods, travel size containers of shampoo, and other personal care items.  These items may be brought to the in-person meeting, where they will be gathered and delivered to the school.

6.    It has been decided that LT Governor Dennis Harmon will serve next year also, putting Lynn back a year as LTG for 2022-23.

7.    There has been discussion with Crystal River High and Kiwanis leadership about having the Field Day event in the fall. Watch for more!

Please join us whenever you can. Vaccines are giving us hope of a return to a new normal and there are plenty children to serve.
